Spending time at home hasn’t always been the go-to activity. But let’s face it, most of us have spent more time at home than we did in the past, giving us an abundant amount of time to evaluate our spaces and even more time for home projects. Whether you dove right in and opted for a whole-home remodel last year or you’re just now thinking about what you can do to spruce of your space, we have some simple home projects that will help to keep you busy. Don’t worry, these projects won’t feel like a renovation, they’ll just be quick, effective solutions to make you feel even better in your personal space.
A cluttered space simply does not feel comfortable, and it’s often not multifunctional. One simple home project you can do while you’re spending time at home is getting things organized. To do this, it’s great to start by removing some items you don’t need anymore. The best way to do this is to choose one space at a time. Go for a closet, storage space, or another area where things may be hidden and get rid of unwanted items that haven’t been used. You might be surprised how much you can find that hasn’t been touched in a few years!

Once you have done an inventory count of the items you plan to keep, get started organizing! It’s best to remember you want your space to be useful and functional, so try to keep related items together where you will actually be able to use them. To make the space look and feel more organized, use a variety of different size storage bins to group items together, or invest in visible baskets that fit right in your space. These items not only provide functional, but they also look beautiful
Hard surface flooring continues to be a top choice for all kinds of homeowners, but one thing it doesn’t provide is added softness. Because of this, many opt for an area rug to complement their space, define their rooms, and add warmth. Thanks to the sheer number of area rugs on the market today, there’s a seemingly endless number of rugs to choose from! If you’re looking at your home and wondering how you can spruce it up without breaking the bank or starting a renovation, try changing out your area rug. You can always move your old rug to a new space in your home or swap it with another rug you own for a fresh, new look. Not only does this trick save time, but it’ll have you loving your furniture all over again thanks to its ability to provide a new look.

One thing that will truly make your home feel like it fits your needs is specific, customized spaces that match your lifestyle. Not only do they custom spaces make your home functional, but they also look great. So, what do we mean by custom spaces? Built-in cabinetry that gives additional storage in a dining room, a corner nook with seating that acts as the perfect reading spot, or a hall tree that fits flawlessly into the wall are just a few examples of custom work that can be done to make your home fit your life.

How do you do it? Take a look at your spaces and evaluate your needs. Do you find that you’re running out of space in your kitchen because your home lacks a pantry? If so, think about all the ways you can expand your space to fit a pantry or ways you can create additional storage using nooks, crannies, or cubbies. You may be surprised at what you come up with, and how easy it is to give yourself the functional space you need in your current home!
If you’ve been looking around at your space and wondering why your walls look so empty, it might be time to invest in some new art or shelves. Art is a perfect way to engage your senses, complement the other décor in your home, and add a focal point to a room. If art isn’t your style, consider some floating shelves or accent shelving. Not only do shelves look beautiful, but they also provide ample storage that may be needed for other items.

In relation to the art and shelving in your home, one question you should ask yourself is if the art in your space is still providing you joy. If it has been there for many years and you no longer feel a connection to it, it may be time to replace it with something that does. Instead, look for art that speaks to you, reminds you of fond memories, or hang photography that makes you happy when you see it.
